Walking In A Winter Sugarland
Christmas is just around the corner, and we're officially beginning to hear bells ringing and smell hot chocolate in the crisp winter air!
In the spirit of the season, we're asking you to help us finish one of our favorite stories "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" - Sugarland style!
Each week we will post a new verse, and later that week we will choose from the ones you send us! Write your own verse and you could win a Sugarland Christmas package.
The winner of the new verse each week will receive a CMA Country Christmas sign autographed by Jennifer and a copy of Sugarland's Christmas CD Gold and Green. Best of luck & Happy Holidays!
So it begins...
Walking in a Winter Sugarland
'Twas right before Christmas, and we could all see
This one would be joyous, thought Kristian with glee.
Jennifer smiled, her face all aglow
As she looked out the window at winter's first snow.
Their families were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of Sugarland danced in their heads.
And Kristian with his guitar, and Jennifer with her mic,
They were sure to make something the whole world would like.
The first note of their song split through the air,
Like a firework or a Fourth of July flare.
Their Christmas music would light up the night
With sounds of joy amidst snow so white.
When much to their delight they saw coming their way
Annie and Thad in a horse-drawn sleigh.
Brandon was next with Travis and Scott
What a wonderful time this would be, they all thought!
The band all adorned in their red fuzzy hats
Were joining into the music with whistles and claps.
Then what did their keen little ears seem to hear?
A ringing sound float through the snowflakes with cheer.
"Well looky up yonder!" Jennifer shouted with glee.
"Why I think it's Santa, he's lookin' for me.
We've had a good tour and been good all year,
C'mon Santa, about turn those reindeer."
Just then a crackle and pop lit up the night sky
As the white-bearded man turned around on the fly.
Like a soaring eagle, all nine of them flew.
While Jennifer & Kristian hummed merry thoughts too.
The sleigh was so swift, an Incredible Machine
Dressed with lights and glitter of Gold and Green
At Twice the Speed of Life, the sleigh was Enjoying the Ride
Carrying gifts to children, packed with Love on the Inside.
Kristian tipped his hat to the red man to see
If he'd tip his hat back at the band with glee.
But he did more than wave, as the sleigh slowly landed.
He winked to them all as they smiled back candid.
"Santa," said Jennifer. "We're your biggest fans!"
"The feelings are mutual," said the jolly old man.
"I can't spend much time here, I have so much to do.
The presents are many and the moments are few."
Seeing the big dimple on his cheek
We thought for a minute he would continue to speak
When all of a sudden the sweetest sound
Came from the red man with a big belly round
- Kathy Prickett
Santa began singing, a right jolly old man!
He sang and they danced, everyone in the band.
The sparks they ignited in the mid of December,
Reminding them this would be a time to remember.
And just like that, Santa was gone in the blink of an eye!
To the City of Silver Dreams he had to fly,
To deliver that special Little Wood Guitar
To a child who wished for one upon a star!
- Ashley Brocard
And in that instant, the band all knew
That Santa came to deliver something to them too.
It was the gift of music that they'd all come to know.
They laughed and then settled down to watch the sky snow.
