Finding The Beat Again
So, I'm not entirely sure why it's taken me so long to actually share this story, but, it's pretty hilarious and I feel like I am in good company with people who will find it as adorable and funny as I do.
So, I work at an after school program for Kindergarten and First Grade aged children, and earlier in the school year we were outside with the kids for recess and I began absent mindedly humming "Find The Beat Again." One of my kids came up to me and asked me what I was humming and I explained, and she asked me to teach her the song. I, of course, laughed with joy and joyness and taught her the chorus. Well, what I didn't expect was for the kids to all want to learn the song after that, and to be standing in the cafeteria almost 2 months later watching them dance and sing to the song, fists raised in the air. Some kids have asked mom and dad to find the song for them on Itunes and now know it by heart and some are just okay with jumping in on the chorus. Personally, it cracks me up, and warms my heart for a multitude of reasons. The new school year brought about a lot of change for me, so the message of the song itself is a fabulous reminder... but more than that, hearing the kids I adore so much loving this song, and singing it to me, regularly, is really the best kind of reminder I could ask for. And more than that, to see them loving the music so much, well, I know I've done something right ;)
Even if the kids do think the band is called "Candyland"
